Family Transforms Large Kitchen into Simple and Stylish Gathering Spot
Bridgeville, Pa. homeowners create a comfortable and hardworking hub for their extended family and many friends
JASPER, Ind. (October 1, 2012) — With a large extended family that frequently hosts parties for 30+ people, homeowners Ben Bobbitt and Joyce Barry of Bridgeville Pa., wanted a simple, stylish kitchen that could accommodate several cooks at once. After a successful remodel, they not only created a hardworking hub for their family and friends, but their efforts are also featured as a “Renovation Success Story” on www.masterbrand.com.
Bobbitt and Barry’s renovation was selected to be featured on the site after MasterBrand Cabinets Inc., leading cabinetry manufacturer in North America and makers of Aristokraft® Cabinetry, invited remodelers to submit their newly renovated kitchen or bathroom to inspire other homeowners about the possibilities that can be achieved with great cabinetry design
“Joyce comes from a family of eight kids, so we have a large extended family and host many parties for big groups. Our new kitchen works so well with this type of lifestyle; it’s easy to clean, a snap to maintain and given its new layout, it can now accommodate a lot of people,” said Bobbitt.
The homeowners worked with cabinetry dealers Your Kitchen and Bath, LLC of McMurray, Pa., and designer Thomas Mehaffey, to transform their kitchen. The design features Aristokraft’s Augusta cabinetry door style in Thermofoil with a white finish. Bobbitt and Barry selected the style because “it has a nice-looking design that can be comfortably used by our guests and active family.”
The redesigned kitchen layout features an island that is now a great place for snacking, doing homework and making cookies — a favorite family activity. Other elements include rollout drawers in the pantry and island, ample storage beneath the cooktop, and easy to clean cabinetry throughout. Beautiful two-step crown moulding conceals a repositioned plumbing stack that needed to be moved from counter to ceiling height to accommodate the new design.
“Our advice is to know what you absolutely must have in your kitchen, what would be nice to have and what is a stretch, and share that information with your contractor so he or she can translate what you want,” said Bobbitt. “We had a wonderful experience. Our kitchen is a very busy one and is the center of our family and our lives at home. We receive so many compliments on our kitchen, and our cabinetry is a big part of that. We couldn't be happier.”
“Our goal at MasterBrand is to provide the best solutions in cabinetry functionality and design for every homeowner’s individual needs and wish lists,” said Joel Culp, executive vice president of marketing and strategic planning, MasterBrand Cabinets, Inc. “We love learning about the unique ways homeowners utilize our cabinetry to make their dream kitchen or bathroom a reality.”
