Tunnel to Towers Celebrates Partnership with Omega Cabinetry

Tunnel to Towers traveling historical exhibit that pays tribute to those whose lives were lost on 9/11Waterloo Courier, wcfcourier.com and KWWL.com (June 2017) — The Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation made a special visit to the Omega Cabinetry plant in Waterloo, Iowa in June 2017 to offer a special recognition event for employees. More than 900 Omega employees attended the event, which was held to thank the company and its team members for their support of first-responders after the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks.

Tunnel to Towers and Omega, among other sponsors, have worked together to build specifically adapted, custom-designed smart homes for the nation's most catastrophically injured service members. The Foundation hosted an employee lunch and private tours of its traveling "Never Forget" historical exhibit, a 53-foot tractor-trailer that pays tribute to those whose lives were lost on 9/11 and includes preserved artifacts, including steel beams from the towers.

Describing the supportive efforts of Omega employees, The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier stated, "Workers have built custom cabinets for 15 smart homes and plan to work for another 40 in coming years." The cabinets, which are completed as part of employees' regular duties, are specially equipped with adaptive technology and built to a height that disabled veterans can reach with the touch of a button.

"I'm just proud to work for an organization that invests and gives back. I think a lot of the recognition really goes to the organization for doing this," said Omega Human Resources Manager Kyle Roed. "We do one small part of it, but it takes a lot to build a home, and we're so proud to be a small part of such an impactful organization and to help as best we can."

In another story on KWWL.com, Eastern Iowa's NBC affiliate, a representative of the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation, Samantha Vezga said, "Omega Cabinetry has partnered with us over the past three years and delivered the top-tier most amazing quality cabinets for these homes, and we really couldn't do our mission without them."

The Tunnel to Towers Foundation's mission is to honor the sacrifice of firefighter Stephen Siller, a New York City firefighter who died Sept. 11 in the line of duty after running toward the World Trade Center's towers. Tunnel to Towers also honors our military and first responders, who continue to make the supreme sacrifice of life and limb for our country.

Handcrafted with a personal touch, Omega Cabinetry offers infinite design possibilities with elegant, customized cabinets that are as beautiful as they are functional. Omega's dedicated craftsmen hand-select the most beautiful hardwoods in North America to create each individual piece by hand, in a way that highlights its unique beauty and reflects your vision. If you can dream it, Omega can build it.
